The Marketing Butler takes lots of pride in engaging with its community. Using the talents of the executive team to make an impact not only on the business outcomes of clients, but also on other worthy causes.

This is a cornerstone of corporate social responsibility. It means acknowledging that a company’s mission and values encapsulate a broader understanding of success and impact. Corporate social responsibility is the “commitment by business to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as of the local community and society at large”. This is a chance to demonstrate a company’s core values to the community and do some good.

Helping the Community

That’s exactly what happened when Boundless, The Marketing Butler’s production company, stepped in to capture a concert fundraiser for Camp Oochigaes, an organization that supports kids affected by childhood cancer through SickKids, Muskoka summer camp, and year-round programming. Sing for Ooch 2017 was a concert put on by a group of Ooch staff and volunteers to raise money through ticket sales to send a kid to camp this summer. It’s hoped this inaugural event will start an annual tradition raising money for kids impacted by childhood cancer.

Photos and footage of this event is key to engaging the right stakeholders . That could potentially help make this event a bigger fundraiser in the future. The imagery and video also helps to market to event attendees in coming years. Boundless donated a photographer and head of digital strategy to capture the event and to show support. By doing so, Boundless firstly demonstrated its core beliefs in helping the community. Secondly, it’s doing so in a way that leverages its expertise and skills in a way that few others could. Boundless’ donation will play a pivotal role in raising awareness for the cause, showcasing the event, and sending kids to camp.

Added Benefits

Corporate social responsibility can have major benefits for the company in question as well. It helps to refocus the company to its core values. It can do wonders for your brand! A Neilsen study of more than 30,000 people in 60 countries found that 55% are willing to pay more for goods and services from a company that is socially responsible. 52% also check packaging to see that the company has a sustainable impact. CSR is in line with a new trend towards values-based marketing, taking a holistic approach to brand identity. Bottom line: consumers care. And consumers are willing to back their values with their purchases.

Research has found that people experience a warm glow when making a socially responsible purchase. This emanates from positive self-image implications from social commendable behaviour. Consumers are willing to pay more for goods and services that make them feel good about themselves. That’s especially true if they think your company is authentic in wanting to help, rather than just make money. What’s more, findings say that 67% of respondents prefer working at a socially responsible company. It’s a way to get positive press and to feel good about your company’s impact on the world.

Showcase Your Skills

It’s also a great way to show off your skills. Boundless is providing some expertly captured moments that will be seen by likely 500+ volunteers, staff, the families of campers, donors, alumni. The range could be huge, the marketing potentially infinite. And all because of a good deed.

The Marketing Butler wants to encourage its clients to have a broad, social agenda. The Marketing Butler is leading by example and making a difference in its community.

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honourable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”
